The mission of the Heart of Downtown Food Bank is to improve the quality of life of those individuals and families in need who may not be able to provide adequate food and necessities for themselves.
As a non-profit organization, we network with local food providers and community agencies in order to provide the best services possible. We help people achieve self-sufficiency by providing temporary food to individuals or families regardless of race, age, disability, gender, immigration status, national origin, or religious belief.
Our goal is to alleviate hunger in Fullerton and the surrounding communities. We accomplish this with a dynamic group of volunteers who source donations, package nutritious food to stretch a family's food supply and distribute that food to qualifying residents in the Fullerton area.
The Heart of Downtown Food Bank exists to:
∙ Meet the current and future hunger needs of our neighbors in need
∙ Ensure client self-sufficiency through active partnerships with other Orange County organizations
In Orange County, considered to be one of the most affluent in the world, there are still hundreds of thousands of people at risk of going hungry including children, seniors on fixed incomes, the working poor, single parents, and more. According to the 2000 census, children make up 38% of the hungry in Orange County with over 200,000 families living below the poverty line.
Now, more than ever, there is a rising need to assist these low-income families and children to help fight hunger and fill lives with the hope of a better future.
